Noye Park Trail / Security Camera Fundraiser

Noye Park, Duncannon is home to a playground, swings, a basketball court, a walking trail...and gnomes. These gnomes have, for the past 3 years, inhabited the park with the help of local gnome home creators, Marion & Steve Hoke.
The gnomes had a happy existence with lots of space, plenty of little humans who loved them and left gifts like rocks and flowers, and lots of quiet time too. Little kids would visit often, and tip toe through the park trying to spot a gnome in the wild, or even peak inside the houses to see if they were home, or out being magical.
Unfortunately this week, 3 days before Christmas, our magical gnome homes were all destroyed by vandalism. The gnome homes that could be recovered, even pieces of them, have been gathered and will hopefully return.
This vandalism coupled with the uptick in petty crime in the area, and the consistent discovery of drug paraphernalia and other debris at the “dark end” of the trail calls for a response. With no police force in place, we’ve determined security / trail cams mounted and installed discretely and at inaccessible locations may help to deter crime and other not so stellar behavior.
All $ raised will serve to purchase, install, and maintain security cameras here and potentially at Cooper Park, with a donation being made to the Hoke Family who have donated their time and materials to creating and restoring gnome homes in our community parks for children young and old.
*We’ve reached out to some local security groups and some trail camera peeps to get a handle on all that’s needed and as we move forward, we’ll update that here.
