2017Christmas Warmth On the Streets

Christmas is a time for getting together with loved ones, enjoying each others company, warming by the fire and filling our bellies with delicious food. It's my favorite time of year because everyone seems so happy and full of love. But not everyone gets to enjoy the holiday season. For some, it's just another cold day trying to figure out where they're going to sleep and whether or not they're going to eat today.
My name is Joy Zylstra and on behalf of my page, Scarred, Not Broken, my kids and my homeless friends, this is an account to help provide food and warm clothing for some of the homeless on the streets of Edmonton, AB.
For the past two years, my daughter and I, along with friends and family, have put together care packages to hand out to some of the homeless people on our streets. We like to ask others to help however they can. Last year I started a GoFundMe account and between that and cash donations we raised approx. $800 and we were able to hand out 40 care packages. Every package was accepted with love and appreciation.
We will be handing the care packages out the early morning of December 22, 2017 so we're hoping to reach our goal by December 15, 2017.
We'll also need volunteers to come prepare the care packages the night before. It's a big job and I'm hoping to do more than 50 this year.
If you would rather not donate money, or can't donate time, I will include a list in the event of items that can be donated (new items only please). And if you can help out with one or more they will be appreciated! Any help will be appreciated. Together we can make a difference and help bring some Christmas Warmth (and Cheer) to the folks living on the streets,
Your generosity is appreciated in more ways than I can say. Please trust that every penny raised (minus GoFundMe's fees) will be going towards the care packages for the homeless. I will be donating all my time and gas and I will not be profiting in anyway from this - other than the love it will fill my heart by giving others who need it, love, respect, and a meal.
