Celena's Peru Student Trip

My name is Terry. I am creating this fundraising page for my outstanding young daughter Celena. Let me start by talking about her! Celena loves helping others, from classmates to the elderly. She strives to make good grades in school and be the best person she can be inside and out. Celena is in the gifted program at her local junior high and is an honor roll student!! She is also a wrestler for the first time this year and did a wonderful job! Celena decided to take a second language this year. Celena Parker has been nominated to join a group of student ambassadors from Romig Middle School on a life-changing service learning experience.
Service learning experiences are powerful opportunities both for developing communities and students. We are traveling to Peru during June of 2017 to work side-by-side with locals on community-driven projects. From Lima to Machu Picchu, we will be immersed in the land and culture of Peru. We will connect with local communities in the Sacred Valley and learn how they preserve history, art and their heritage. There, you’ll focus on the archaeological remains of the Inca Empire and their lasting cultural influences. While taking in the breathtaking sights from atop the mighty Andes, we will also spend two days working in a local community on projects that support economic sustainability, local agriculture and access to education around the world. Through hands-on work and deep exposure to the local culture, students will learn vital collaboration and problem-solving skills. They’ll return inspired to make a difference at home, too.
I feel this is an opportunity of a lifetime for her. She is so excited and honored to be selected and I couldn't be prouder of the young lady she is becoming. It would not be possible without the help of our community. The majority of the funds will be spent for the trip, the remaining monies we are asking to raise is for spending money while there(tips, lunches, water, gifts.) Funds are needed as soon as possible. It would mean the world to her to be able to go on this trip and the world to me for help with making her wish comes true. I would like to thank all of you in advance for your help.
