Cecil Edwards New Roof Fund

Hi my name is John Ver Straten I started trying to help Mr. Edwards in August of 2016, when he came to me because he was getting ready to be evicted from his home in Madison because he did not obtain an occupancy permit when he moved in back in 2010.
This picture of Mr. Cecil Edwards who is an 81 years old senior living on his meger Social Security Income and lives in Madison, Illinois. When he came to me he was due in court to be evicted because his home is not up to the City of Madison's Codes. The whole home needed to be rewired. With the help of Rebuilding Together and Southwestern Illinois College we got Mr. Edwards whole home rewired. I did not realize that this was not the only issue with obtaining his permit. We called the Madison City Inspector to inspect the wiring that is when he informed of the other corrections that needed to be completed before he can okay the Occupancy permit. Mostly small minor things but there was one huge obstacle. He needs a new roof. As we all know roofs are not cheap and the damage to his roof is extremely extensive. The whole roof needs replace so that is why I'm starting a go fund me page for him.
We need the money fast the City Attorney for Madison has been working with us since August by giving us month to month extension but I'm afraid this is wearing thin. Don't get me wrong he has been most gracious but I can tell you that they are demanding this be corrected or Mr. Edwards moves out because the home is unsafe. I have contacted the City Attorney but as of this writing Mr. Edwards has to be in court on November 10th, 2016. I may be able to get another 30 or even 60 days so I'm on a very tight deadline. I've contacted every community help organization and the wait list would never get us there. So I'm reaching out to all of you.
This means a lot to me because this poor man has been told there is no hope and he may be having to move. This is his home he has nowhere else to go. I want to see him happy and in his home. With the holiday's approaching what could be better than all of us working together to help one of our communities needy Senior Citizens.
I would be very excited for him and I know if we could help him out he would be so thankful. I'm not doing this for me I'm doing this for him because I feel it's the right thing to do.
