Hi everyone! Nina here...and I have made this gofundme page to help my best friends, Amber and Cameron Michalak, become the amazing parents they are meant to be!
If you know Amber and Cameron (or "Camber"), then I don't need to tell you how kind, funloving, and just generally awesome they are. If you don't know them, allow me to give an introduction. I met these two while I was in college and we were all working as camp counselors at The MAD* (*music arts drama) Factory in Oberlin, OH. This is where Amber and I continue to work, while Cameron works for the Cleveland State University Theatre Department. They met as students at Baldwin Wallace, moved to New York City together for a couple years, then followed the road home to Ohio. They love music, theatre, art, their pets, family, friends, and a good glass of bourbon. They are generous people who consistently go out of their way to make life easier for others.
Soon after their 2008 wedding, they began their family planning. Fast forward to 2016 and they are still waiting for their miracle. After 4 years of trying to conceive naturally with no success, for the last 3 years they have been trying IUI, or Intra-uterine insemination. This process is physically, emotionally, and financially taxing, and they have been through it 7 times. Recently, their doctor gave them the straightforward news: InVitro Fertilzation (IVF) is their best chance to conceive. It gives them a 50% chance of conception, compared to 1% without IVF. The cost of the IVF procedure is currently $13,000, and ideally they will go through with this in March of 2017. They've learned that most people pay $3,000 up front for necessary medication, then take out a medical loan from the bank for the remaining $10,000 to cover the actual procedure. Gathering that amount of money is a huge challenge, especially after putting over $8,000 towards this effort already. They need our help!
The pain they have already been through dealing with infertility is something we can't erase, but hopefully together we can make the future a little brighter for this deserving pair.
