Blake’s Story
Our nephew Blake has Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome (HRHS). This means that he is basically missing the right side of his heart. He has had had 5 open heart surgeries to date. Blake has shown everyone over and over again how tough he is, which comes in handy growing up with 2 big sisters, Laurie and Kaylyn and baby sister Eva.
After his last open heart surgery Blake developed a serious condition called Protein Losing Enteropathy (PLE). Doctors were initially able to get the PLE into remission. Unfortunately Blake's PLE is back and his protein is the lowest it has ever been. After lasix, diet changes and vitamins it is time to get a little more aggressive. Not all of the possible interventions available to treat PLE are covered by insurance. We are hoping to raise money to ensure Blake is able to access any and all interventions available to treat this serious condition and bring him back to health.
