Help the Bay with Outdoor Classroom

My name is Evan Wassmann and I’m raising money to create an outdoor classroom at the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center (CBEC). I have chosen to do this for my Eagle Scout project.  The money I raise will go toward setting up the classroom, including purchasing 6 picnic tables made of recycled materials that will form a central gathering site for the kids who visit CBEC as part of school trips and summer camp.  

CBEC runs an educational nature center and manages  over 500 acres of protected wetlands. They are educating the local community on Maryland's Eastern Shore so that kids learn how their actions impact things like the number of birds we see every day.  To get to CBEC from our house we have to walk by piles of trash at the edges of the wetland  - everything from fast food to bottles, cans and cigarettes. This trash gets washed right into the Bay.  CBEC is teaching my generation so that we know not to throw trash out the window when we are driving, and so we understand how our choices impact osprey, oysters, horseshoe crabs, wood ducks, and other wildlife. (CBEC is where I learned that horseshoe crabs are not just ugly animals that hurt my feet at the beach- they are actually a vital part of ensuring vaccines are safe!).
 
I will be leading a team of Scouts to set up the classroom area so that it is ready for summer camp 2017. The largest expense is the picnic tables which replace old wooden tables that are worn out - it is tough for anything to withstand the environmental conditions in this area for very long.  We did receive a discount of 10% from the supplier and our labor is free so we are working hard to keep our costs down. Every penny will go directly to supplies and would be greatly appreciated.  If I can raise the funding this year I’ll be able to get all the supplies in time to prepare the site so that it is ready for spring school trips and summer camps.
