The Bubba Foundation
Mission Statement:
In loving memory of the late Bill "Bubba" O’Donnell, a foundation was created by his friends to honor his legacy. The foundation’s main objective is to provide a young man a partial scholarship at Bill's alma mater, St. Peter’s Prep High school in Jersey City. The St. Peter’s mantra is, “A man for others.” If you were one of Bill’s friends, you know he lived by that mantra – he would do anything to have your back. He was a big man with an even bigger heart.
Bill earned the nickname Bubba during his tenure on the football team. We found it fitting the foundation bear the same name. Now, every year, a young man in need will benefit in his honor.
Bill’s playing days:
Growing up in Bayonne, NJ, he played hockey, unable to play football until high school because of his size. Bill was a multi-year starter in high school, however, his senior year is when it all came together. One of four team captains, he was named 1st Team All State. He was also named to the Tri-State Heisman team after the team finished 11-0 as the #1 ranked team in NJ - #6 ranked in the USA Today nationally. Bill went on to play Division I football on full scholarship to the Syracuse University. Bill again was a multi-year starter at guard for the Orangeman, playing alongside notable NFL stars and close friend Keith Bullock as well as Quarterback Donovan McNabb. Bill played in 5 NCAA bowl games including the Orange & Fiesta Bowls.
This October, Bill will be inducted into the St. Peter’s Prep Hall of Fame where his name will forever be a part of Marauder history.
