Aubrielle's Story

Praying for baby Aubrielle

Our story begins with the exciting news of expecting a new little one into our lives. We arrived at my 20 week routine ultrasound with the expectation of getting pictures, meeting with my doctor, confirming everything looks good, and then going home. What happened next was something we were not prepared for. Our lives as we knew it were about to be turned in a completely different direction. We were told they were seeing abnormalities in our baby and they needed to refer us to a specialist right away. Our hearts sunk and we couldn't believe what we were hearing. After waiting 24 hours, what seemed to feel like weeks, we were seen by the specialist. We had no idea the news was going to get much more difficult. After level 4 ultrasounds and a Fetal MRI, our doctors suspect our baby to have OEIS Complex, very rare and only seen in 1 in 400,000 pregnancies. Our baby girl developed with her intestines, liver, partial stomach and bladder all out. Her bladder is also open in two halves. They also found an abnormal curve in her spine, as well as spina bifida, and a slight left clubbed foot. Fear of her not walking and needing a colostomy bag for life have set in. We have known from the first day that we will not give up on her and will continue to fight for her survival. We are praying that she is a strong little fighter too.

Now at 33 weeks, we have met with all of the surgeons and are preparing for Aubrielle's arrival. They hope to get my pregnancy to 39 weeks and then do a classical c-section, to ensure they can get her out safely. They anticipate her to be in the NICU for quite some time, needing multiple surgeries. She will determine which procedures will be done, given her breathing is stable enough to do so. The outpouring love and support from family and friends has been so comforting. Words can't explain how blessed we are to have everyone in our life right now. We will continue to pray that God will watch over Aubrielle and our family and help give us the strength and courage to get through this difficult time. It's a new path he has placed us on and we are committed to follow it. Though we are faced with some tough times ahead, we know he will help us through. Please continue to pray for our little baby girl.
