AYG project will offer each young person at least 30 hours of training on safety, conflict resolution, cultural exchange, leadership, HIV awareness and 20 hours of health education and promotion aimed at improving the health and well-being of young people and prepare them for the challenges of living and working in the host community. This unique learning and developmental opportunity will including a social return on investment of at least 50 hour each, volunteering in their own community. AYG will also contribute a further combined total of 360 hours volunteering overseas in a host community on a capacity building and teaching project in Vihiga, Western Kenya. We are currently working with X-Change Scotland and have received a proposal from their Kenyan partner KVDA that offers our group a very authentic oversea voluntary experience and with our group contributing to KVDA's vision of poverty reduction and sustainability. Working in partnership with the Maragoli Community Development Foundation will be working primarily to improve the Vigetse Community Health Centre, carrying out task such as brick making, construction of MACODEF resource centre, capacity building with community groups, teaching at primary and secondary schools. Our host community will make two rooms available within the school complex for us to call home during our stay. We will be sleeping on the floor, eating local food and immersing ourselves in the cultural aspects of our host community life and be guided by their customs and conduct. This will be a huge challenge for all involved but we plan to embrace it and immerse ourselves in the whole process from fund raising, training, to realise our dream to serving the Maragoli community and making a difference to the health and well-being of others. We are looking forward to sharing the diverse skills we already have as a group and hope to increase our own knowledge, skills and cultural awareness through participating in this amazing adventure. We would very much appreciate if you would consider supporting us to bring this ambitious plan to realisation.
Funds raised through the donation process are for training, orientation, construction materials and project fees.
