Alison & Tim's Burundi Adoption

We are thrilled to announce that after many years of thinking and praying we are finally taking the steps to adopt! We kept waiting for that lightning bolt moment-- where God would tell us exactly what path to take, or even which country from which to adopt. But He never seemed to reveal those answers.

And then we started to think-- is that really what faith looks like? Do we need to have all the details in order to move forward? Isn't the Bible's call on Christians to look after orphans a clear enough instruction? So we started to take steps in that direction and here we are-- beginning the process of adopting our child from the tiny country of Burundi through All God's Children International.

We hope to reach our first fundraising goal by the middle of May. This money will go towards the following initial expenses:
International Home Study: $2,350
First Program Service Fee: $7,500
Orphan Care Fee: $2,500
Translation of Dossier: $1,200
Psychological Evaluation: $1,500
Adoptive Parent Education: $250

First phase total: $15,300

The total expected expense of the adoption will be around $30,000.

Burundi is still one of the top 5 poorest countries in the world, with 80% of its population living below the poverty line.  The country has been ravished by disease and a 12-year-long civil war leaving more than 558,000 children orphaned.
