Maddie Mann ADA Playground Build

The Maddie Mann Foundation for Accessible Play: It is important for us to share why the Foundation began.  Maddie was born severely premature (23wks) due to an intrauterine strep B infection. In her 18 years, she has undergone 16 major surgeries, including 8 brain surgeries for either shunt placements or failures.  She went over two years without a surgery, when we decided to start her Foundation in June of 2013. Throughout her life, not only her medical, but her physical limitations have given us insight to issues concerning accessibility. Our experiences have driven us to help those in different ways to be included, by just giving them ACCESS.   Maddie has the largest spirit and heart.  She wants to help others, and has a great love for people.  Her Foundation is her legacy.    The playground build is our first, and the largest goal. We are a 501 (c) 3 non profit. All donations are tax deductible.  Please take a moment to view the playground plans, and consider helping us accomplish the 1st goal set for our local community. To date we have raised just over $30,000 of the $180,000 goal through local events and small businesses in our area in Virgina.  The surface of the playground is what makes it 100% accessible to everyone. It consists of a poured rubber surface.  It allows for wheelchair/walker access to the main parts, as well as ground play.  The entire system does not limit/prevent anyone from access.  The Foundation wants to make sure "play" is not limited to any specific groups and our mission is to create a barrier free community for our wounded military, elderly, and disabled populations that will allow everyone the opportunity to play with their families.
