Action in Kirkland:
Indivisible Kirkland is a community-based organization of dedicated volunteers focused on initiating change at the hyper-local level, providing opportunities for activism and inspiring others to keep going.
While we work locally, our vision extends beyond our direct community to a nation where all voices are heard, where hate has no place, where the most vulnerable among us are supported, where the planet is treated as precious and where democracy is vibrant.
We recently advocated for the creation of a gun safety resolution for the City of Kirkland. This collaboration with KirklandSafe resulted in a 6-0 unanimous passage of Resolution R-5312. The resolution provides a framework for action to promote gun safety and reduce gun violence. We are now working with the city to fulfill the mandate of the resolution through state-level lobbying, local ordinances, and community programs. Community dialogue is the first step to identifying meaningful actions. A Town Hall is in the works for June. Please stay tuned for more information!
Beyond Kirkland:
While we are encouraged by the potential for change in our community, true change must extend beyond our one community. If multiple cities pass similar resolutions and have similar priorities related to this issue, we can work in concert to bring about more widespread, effective change. Our goal is to provide guidance and support to communities as they engage in a similar process. We have created and will be offering a ‘how-to’ workshop to help other communities replicate and/or adapt the process.
Contributions to Spur Action:
The funds raised through this campaign will be used to finance the workshop, purchase promotional materials in support of the Town Hall and defray the cost of other operating expenses (copying/printing, banner, business cards). Your financial support will mean that Indivisible Kirkland is able to continue to do the work that we feel is vitally important to the people of Kirkland & beyond. Any contribution is greatly appreciated and will be used with great care.
