9th Life Hawaii is Maui’s largest, non-profit No Kill cat rescue and sanctuary.
WE DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP TO MOVE TO A SMALLER LOCATION. WE PLAN ON KEEPING ALL OUR KITTIES SAFE.
9th Life is home to over 200 cats. There is no doubt that almost every single one of these kitties would not be alive today except for our rescue. We take in cats in harms’ way, such as a colony whose site is being bull-dozed for construction. We provide sanctuary for older cats whose caretakers are too ill to care for them or have passed away, as well as, cats that people dump at the sanctuary. We provide shelter for cats that are deemed unadoptable because they may be shy, or have chronic Upper Respiratory disease or they may be missing a leg, blind, deaf, old or whose ears have been removed due to ear cancer. These cats are not likely to be adopted, but at 9th Life they have a home for life.
Our monthly fixed expenses are over $9,000. This covers cat food, kitty litter, vet services, medicine, occupancy costs (mortgage, taxes, insurance), utilities, grounds maintenance, flea control medication and cattery cleaning. Only in December and January are our donations adequate to meet our fixed expenses.
We are incredibly sad over this turn of events. We are pleading for your help.
