Set up costs for Manchester Shield

Manchester Shield aims to become a user led civic movement, which seeks to empower citizens in Greater Manchester, by promoting their collaboration in a better built environment & city.  

Setting up a social movement is important to the city will incur basic costs. These will be for very basic costs, such as facilitate a set up meetings, run a basic website, pay for reduced cost graphic design, hire venues and pay for online applications like surveys and social media adverts.

The setup meeting is on 14 April's Friends Meeting House on Mount Street in central Manchester. The money raised which doesn't need to be the full amount of this point. Any money helps contribute towards venue hire and also for a professional facilitator to try and organise the efforts of this new civic movement.

This will only cost about £100. However, any ongoing fundraising will be really beneficial to this movement. We will also aim to run social events, annual award ceremonies for the best developers and social fundraisers especially around campaigns that are selected to be important for the movement. 

Shield becomes a beacon movement to scrutinise, honour in awards and anti-awards, to inspire, empower, lobby and seek genuine dialogue in our evolving city.

We believe that citizens voices in shaping Manchester matters. Engagement, collaboration and advocating the civic voice in planning can and must be vastly improved.
