PTSD Service dog for Ariana

Donation protected
My name is Ariana, I am fifteen years old. I have suffered with severe depression since I was three years old; At the age of fourteen I was diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

To my acquaintances: You might have noticed that I have missed many days of school, parties, events.

To my friends: You might have heard that I have been hospitalized multiple times.

I get anxious and I can't express myself to many people. I have hidden for a long time and I am ready to show a bit of myself. (Please understand and respect that I am not yet ready to explain exactly what has happened and that writing this letter is an extremely hard step for me. But my hope is that I will be able to as I recover and realize my strengths.) I am working on myself and I am slowly making progress. However, it has been a battle with many ups and downs, and it will continue to be, before I get to where I want to be.

Asking for help is very hard for me and right now, I need more help. My family and I have decided to get in touch with a few organizations who train service dogs that specialize in PTSD. These specialty-trained dogs are extremely expensive and it's not common knowledge that they cost between 15-30k. Our family is doing all we can do meet our goal of $13,000 to pay for his/her adoption as well as medical expenses and traveling/training for the both of us.

This means that I would have a partner by my side at all times, for years to come, helping me to keep myself safe and to help ease my anxiety while I continue healing. He/she will also be trained to react to any self-harming behavior or to get help immediately if I am overwhelmed and I have lost my voice and no one knows that I need it. My guardian will be extensively trained to handle certain things that I can't and will help me heal and become more aware of my own feelings and actions as I become an adult.

I am ready to move on in my life and I know that this is a wonderful opportunity for me to move past old feelings, urges, flash backs of trauma, and nightmares; And help me live a loving and compassionate life. I am ready to move on to brighter days that I can be more present and graduate high school. I'm also looking forward to attending to UNC in the future to become a Nurse and working in a Mental Health Facility to help other people with these invisible illnesses. Thank you for your contributions to help me and my family to adopt and train my battle-buddy. I am looking forward to my bright future!
