2nd Annual Christmas Fundraiser
This is the 2nd Annual Christmas GoFundMe Book Sale.
Last year, we raised 15,000 for a family that had lost husband and father.
This year, I want to help a whole bunch of folks who could use a little boost.
I don't need to raise as much, but I do want to make sure that some deserving people get a helping hand in this, the coldest of months.
One family is about to have their electricity turned off. Another needs a couple mortgage payments to avoid foreclosure. A third needs brakes repaired so they can use the car to get to work. Another needs help with vet bills. One more just needs help while job searching. And over here, I'd like to be able to help all of these people. (And if we go over target, there's no shortage of other people to help.)
[EDITED TO ADD: I have raised the target to $7500 so we can send some significant bucks to some friends who lost their homes in the recent CA firestorm. Thanks!]
But this isn't a beg — it's a book sale.
Here's the items I'm putting up for sale:
Anyone who contributes anything will receive a link to download a pdf of "Bubble And Squeak," the mega-tsunami novella, by Ctein and myself, published in Asimov's in the May/June 2018 issue.
Anyone contributing $5 or more will get of the above and a link to download a pdf of "Blood And Fire" (first draft), a script I wrote in the early days of TNG. (For reasons soon to be explained in an upcoming book, it did not get produced and TNG went in a different direction.) It tells the truth about Regulan Bloodworms.
Anyone contributing $10 or more will get all of the above and a link to download a pdf of "Blood And Fire," the script we shot as an episode of Star Trek: New Voyages. This time, it's Kirk, Spock, and McCoy who deal with the challenge of Regulan Bloodworms.
Anyone contributing $20 or more will get all of the above and a link to download a pdf of the pilot script (first draft) for Land Of The Lost, The Return — the work I did for the 1987 reboot of the series that didn't happen. Two acts of the script are finished. The third act is in treatment form.
Anyone contributing $30 or more will get all of the above and a link to download a pdf of "Escape From The Planet Of The Tribbles," a script I wrote for Star Trek New Voyages, which finally reveals the truth about man-eating tribbles. I don't know if this will ever be filmed, but it's very funny.
Anyone contributing $40 or more will get all of the above and a link to download a zip file of the David Gerrold Megapack. We made a special edition flash drive for sale at the 2015 Worldcon. This zip file is the complete contents — it's a large download, it's a half-million words of fiction, including two novels, a couple of scripts, two Chtorr stories, some audio-video interviews, and the video of "Uncle Daddy Will Not Be Invited," a play I wrote and directed in 2013.
Anyone contributing $60 or more will get all of the above and a link to download a pdf of all four books in The War Against The Chtorr series.
Anyone contributing $80 or more will get all of the above and a link to download a pdf of the first half of A Nest For Nightmares, the fifth book in The War Against The Chtorr series, currently being edited.
Anyone contributing $95 or more will get all of the above and I will Tuckerize you in a story in the next 12-18 months. Tuckerization means a character will be named after you in a story.
Anyone contributing $125 or more will get all of the above and I will Tuckerize you in a story in the next 12-18 months — and say horrible things about you before giving you a frightening death. Tuckerization means a character will be named after you in a story.
The first person contributing $2900 or more will get all of the above and the dark green Ford Windstar van that I want to sell. I've used this van to travel all over the country, I've had the engine rebuilt, the transmission rebuilt, the stereo replaced, the shocks and brakes rebuilt, the fuel filter, fuel pump, and alternator replaced, a broken mirror replaced, and I really don't want to go in search of that last annoying rattle. The tires are good. It runs well, the heating and air conditioning work. If you live in Southern CA, I will deliver. If you want me to deliver it anywhere else, you have to cover transportation costs home. The van is called "Schleppervessence." It's not pretty but it's pretty dependable. (I'll be putting it up on Craigslist soon, but I'd rather give my friends a chance first.)
Thanks for reading this far. Thanks in advance for helping. I have a lot of Facebook friends and followers. If each one contributes even a dollar, we will make our target easily.
Have a great December and whatever holiday you choose to celebrate, make it a great one! All my best wishes!
