This page has been set up for my brother Mark, who 7 years ago (in 2008) as a 12 year old, made the decision of wanting to become a professional soccer player. A decision that was easy to make as he possesses the talent, the skills, the mindset and is committed and fully dedicated to the sport of soccer.
He took the first step towards following his dream by attending Rowville Sports Academy (RSA) in Melbourne, AU from 2010 – until now, the year 2015. Rowville Sports Academy is a fulltime integrated academic sporting program that allows young students to develop their sporting talent while receiving their secondary education. This decision was more or less the easy part the hard yards were yet to come. As with any decision there are sacrifices, which, he unavoidably had to make in order to pursue his dream.
As some of you especially those outside of Australia may not know the distance. It meant for my brother to leave the house at 7am to head to school, to then get picked up by my parents at 3.15pm to straight away head to training sessions which meant they would not come home after 9pm at night. My brother would do his homework mostly in the car or anywhere he could find a spot.
He trained six days a week, in the morning at school the afternoon would consist of training with the sports academy or his club. Soccer matches were being played on the weekends.
Mark was found on the soccer pitch, day in day out regardless of the weather or any hindrances.
My dad would drive my brother hundreds of kilometres a week across town just to get him to training , often coming home late at night, before it was back to school for him early the next morning. He did this for the past 7 years, every single week, every single day.
He has previously played for South Eastern Piranhas U 13A – U 17A, before following on with South Melbourne FC playing U 18A and Kingston City FC U 18NPL1 and Frankston Pines Reserve SL1 in the position of attacking midfielder / defence, left and right wing.
As in most instances hard work pays off and sure enough it did. Winning once the Futsal Victorian State Championship, twice becoming Victorian School State Champion, twice becoming Victorian State Champion and four times winning Soccer Victorian League Championship.
Of course his path has not been smooth sailing , there have been some setbacks along the way, however with every setback Mark would still come out the other side even stronger, determined and undeterred to fulfil his goal.
My brother Mark has put in a lot of hard work and commitment, to be able to get himself to where he is now with support from his 3 sisters and parents.
He has now turned 19 years of age, and graduated from High School. Mark has committed to years of training and sacrifices and we would like to give him the chance at trialling for Clubs in Europe and the UK during the next year.
Mark and his family have saved some money, however there is still a difference of a further
9,000.00AUD
that needs to be raised
by 15th February 2016
to fulfill funding.
As you now know, he has shown incredible will power to get to where he is now, he has committed and dedicated himself to the sport of soccer for many years and continues to do so.
It would be wonderful if you could support his chance to take the final stepping stone to attend these trials and establish himself within this professional sporting industry.
Mark has worked extremely hard for this opportunity and it would be very disappointing to see him be unable to show his talent purely based on the funds still needed, despite having all the support from his coaches and family.
