We Can Make a Difference
My name is Clark Knowles and I'm about ready to undertake a sweaty 30 day physical challenge to raise money to support my friend Shawn Soucy while he fights cancer and a host of painful knee, shoulder, elbow, and hip troubles. The studio where I practice yoga is starting its annual September 30 Day Challenge. In the past, I rode a bike in the Pan Mass Challenge to raise money for cancer research. I thought: why not challenge myself in a new way? I’m asking you to sponsor me in this challenge. I’ll do the sweating, you do the donating. Every day in September, I’ll walk into the Bikram Yoga Studio in Portsmouth to practice in a 105 degree space for ninety minutes. The yoga at Bikram is challenging, but it’s nothing compared to what Shawn deals with nearly everyday. Will you sponsor me in my endeavor to raise $6000.00? Here are some numbers to help you visualize how easy it can be to reach our goal:
10 people donating $100.00 is $1000.00 ($3.33 per day)
15 people donating $75.00 is $1125.00 ($2.50 per day)
25 people donating $50.00 is $1250.00 ($1.66 per day)
35 people donating $25.00 is $875.00 ($.86 per day)
50 people donating $15.00 is $750.00 ($.50 per day)
60 people donating $10.00 is $600.00 ($.33 per day)
70 people donating $5.00 is $350.00 ($.16 per day)
Total………………$5950.00 (198.00 dollars per day)
I hope you’ll consider sponsoring my yoga challenge. I’ll update you on the progress of the challenge a few times a week via video or blog post. Together, we can make a difference. Please spread the message. Send them this link. Post it to Facebook and Twitter. If we use our collective muscle, the cost of the expensive path to Shawn’s recovery becomes what many of us spend daily on coffee. Or not even a whole coffee! The cost of helping this good man is the daily cost of putting an extra shot of espresso in a cappuccino. With our help relieving a part the looming financial burden, Shawn can spend his time focusing on his health. By sponsoring this challenge, you’ll provide tangible relief for rent, healthy food, gas, heat, water—the essentials. Those of us who know him want nothing more than to see this good man back on his feet.

Hi everyone. Thanks for looking over here. I know the Internet is a busy place and there are lots of calls for your money and attention. I appreciate it when you stop for a moment and read my updates for this fund. I have no new personal challenge updates, but my friend Shawn is beginning to see a little light far off at the end of this really long tunnel he's been in, but that's still six or seven months away and he could still use some help. If you have just a bit to donate, it would be a big help for him and those of us who love him and want to see him healthy again. Perhaps you have a fiver kicking around, or a few bills that you might use to buy coffee tomorrow. Could you donate? It might not seem like much, but an ocean can't be an ocean without a lot of drops of water. Every drop counts. Spread the word to your friends. It's election time, so there a lot of awfulness on display all over the place. This is a chance to balance some of that with a little goodness. Again, thanks for coming by and taking the time to read this post. Please help if you can.
Hi everyone! Remember a few months back when I was doing the very, very sweaty thirty day Bikram Yoga Challenge as a fundraiser for my friend Shawn? We raised about 1800 dollars for him as he was was battling his lymphoma, going through chemo, and generally trying to make it through each painful day so he could get healthy and get his life back. The good news is that he is getting better. The tougher news is that he's still dealing with a rash of medical issues. The most current hurdle on the track to recovery is a complete knee replacement in his left leg. Please see the attached photo. Damn. That' s a lot of staples. Shawn is as positive as ever, but he's also basically a man in a bed for a few more months. There's no yoga challenge right now that I can sweat through to raise awareness for Shawn's cause, but he could use some more support. If you know Shawn, you know that he's the sort of guy that would give you the shirt off his back and maybe even one of his shoes if you needed it. If you can spare some money for a good man on difficult healing journey, he would certainly appreciate it. And if you can't spare any money, perhaps you could think about sharing this link to your friends, fellow facebookers, tweeters, instagrammers, snap-chatters, and yik-yakkers. Thanks for everything that you've already donated. Can we do it again?
Thirty hot classes in thirty days. Thanks to those of you who were able to follow along and donate to help the cause. This link will stay live for a long time, so you may see some bonus updates. Thanks again!
Hello challenge supporters! My thirty day challenge is nearly through. 29 days of hot, hot, hot yoga. I feel great. Tired but great. I hope that if you haven't had time to donate you might think of doing so now. Check out the video, click the donate link, and know the money is going to help a good man who needs the support. Namaste.
