Hi beautiful people :)
My name is Emma Letessier and I'm the founder and editor of Barefoot Vegan, a free, digital magazine that goes out bi-monthly and was first launched in April 2015.
I set Barefoot Vegan up as a way to empower people to live their happiest and healthiest lives, to rediscover what it means to live compassionately for all of the Earth's inhabitants and to demonstrate how each us, can make a difference.
Barefoot Vegan is unique to many other vegan publications as not only does it provide information on health, diet and animals, it also promotes spiritual principles and alternative health practices, in addition to practical information regarding environmental sustainability and self-sufficiency.
The magazine also provides a global platform that showcases how individuals and organisations are making a difference in the world. In this way, each of us can be inspired to do as much good as we can, in our own way, using our own unique gifts and talents.
My husband and I have been funding the production of the magazine since its launch. I've started up this gofundme campaign to raise funds for one year's production of the magazine. Anything raised over and above the campaign goal amount would be used as follows:
- At the moment both the website and the magazine are hosted on very basic platforms, which don't lend themselves well to smartphones and tablets. It would be amazing to be able to raise further funds to be able to afford a more interactive reader experience and fully utilise the digital magazine medium, perhaps even investing in an app.
- I want to be able to get the magazine out to as many people as possible. To do this would involve marketing budget to pay for things like Facebook advertising. Perhaps it would even be possible to hire someone's services to support the marketing of the magazine.
So far, the magazine has received tremendous support from readers and contributors from across the globe, and I'm so very honoured. I want to make the magazine as amazing as possible and to be able to continue to provide a high-quality, reader-friendly product that is free and inspires a kinder world for everyone.
