Send ESA Boys to Regionals!
Our kids are willing to work hard in school, attend practices regularly, and give 100% to be the best they can be. Most importantly, they are extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this team.
Our success on the field has reached a new high and our boys can represent Arizona in the US Youth Soccer Regional Tournament! The tournament is this June 11-15th. We are looking to raise enough money for hotels and team meals since we're estimating this trip to cost $15,000.
In addition, our boys will be conducting more traditional fundraisers to make this trip possible.
Please consider contributing, even a small donation. In addition, please help us get the word out by getting this message to others. Our boys are very excited and proud to be representing the state of Arizona at regionals; they look forward to making everyone proud.
In June we traveled to California where we stayed in Milpitas for the tournament in Morgan Hill. With a tough draw we new getting out of our group was going to be a challenge. Our opponents were Nevada, Colorado, and Cal South.
In the first game, it was a challenging battle. We fought hard but were unable to score - however, our defense was strong and surrendered no goals. So we drew 0-0.
Next up against Colorado and we were managing a couple of injuries. Still, the boys got started quickly and were able to score early in the first half. That goal was followed up by two more before Colorado was able to beat our defense for a goal. With the score 3-1 at the half, we found the second half much more difficult. The final score was 3-1. The boys got their first win and some momentum.
Cal South was our last game in group play, they were the favorite to win the tournament. Battling injuries, our boys started well. The game was fast and physical, but we still had our opportunities. Although we couldn't find the net. We lost our first game of the tournament 2-0.
With a solid group performance (just like USA at the World Cup 1-1-1) we placed second in the group and advanced to the knockout stage.
In the quarterfinals, we were matched up against Oregon. It was a tough team and a very windy day, at the end of regulation, we were tied 0-0. So we moved into overtime. In overtime, we were scored on with ten minutes remaining. For the next ten minutes we took chances and fired over and over unable to find the back of the net. We were eliminated from Regionals in the quarterfinals. The ultimate champions were Cal South.
The boys gained massive confidence playing in that tournament. They believe in themselves and were surprised at how good they are. (I've been trying to tell them...) The state representative for US Soccer from Arizona spoke to the boys told them how proud she was they were representing Arizona.
It was a great learning and life experience for the boys.
Thank you so much for making this dream possible.
The anticipation for this trip has been building since we won Arizona's Presidents Cup. With just seven days until the tournament kicks off, the boys excitement level is so high. We're very thankful for everyone's support! We look forward to making Arizona proud.
The boys are so excited about the trip and working hard every practice.
This is our final week to push for donations. If you know of anyone that would understand or relate to our story, please share it with them.
For the boys, checking on this page for updates and realizing what a community can do for them is a tremendous lesson on what they can do for their community. They see that supporting a cause is a culmination of many people doing/offering whatever they can.
We believe that they will be impacting the world for others the way you have for them. Thank you.
