HOMELESS, ESTABLISH A NEW RESIDENCE

Donation protected
We are currently having to rebuild our lives over again.
It all started in August of 2015 when we reported to the landlord that there was a busted pipe under the foundation again. This had made the 4th one. His repair man showed us that the tree roots were growing into the pipes causing them to burst under the foundation. He kept giving us excuses, and when December came, I had no choice, but to report him to Section 8 Housing Authority. He was given 30 days to fix it, but he refused. I was not the only tenet having repair issues with busted pipes, and them not getting fixed.

I have end stage 4 COPD, and I require oxygen 24/7, and a non invasive ventilator to stay alive. My parents and some other family members are deceased. We have no family who could take us in or friends who do not smoke. I can not be around smokers or other irritants. We ended up having to get a motel to stay in to keep me alive, so I could have electricity to run my life saving machines.

This is where I spend most of my time on my non invasive ventilator. I have to struggle really hard to breathe just to get a bath with someone helping me. It takes me up to 1 hour on 10 liters of oxygen. The motel room is so packed with oxygen bottles, medical supplies, and a few belongings that there is not much room for me to walk.

The leak was eventually so severe, the water had to be turned on and off from the water main. As soon as my landlord was told they would not pay him for failure to make repairs, he called and wanted us out in 4 days. He served me with eviction which gave me a few more extra days when we went to court. He lied to the court when he said he paid all the water bills. He has left me with a $495.00 water bill, but I will make sure he ends up paying it by showing proof.

We were evicted in February of 2016. Being on section 8 housing made it harder to find housing. Many landlords have quit with it. Places we did find were downtown, and in bad areas of N. Chas where shootings and robberies occur. In my condition, I need a safe place.

When evicted, we had almost saved up enough money to purchase a car. A car is a major necessity in order for me to be able to travel to and from N.C. to be in the lung transplant program that I was accepted in at Duke University.

I have a love for life, God, and my children. I have been strong enough to hang in and I refuse to give up. I' am fighting so hard for the transplant, and I have my doctors and therapists supporting me by submitting records, and they have been fantastic at helping me. But they can not help me with the stress I wake up to every morning wondering if we will be able to pay for another day.

The SSI check I do receive is not much, and I have bills, co pays, and medications to pay, along with storage. It does not go far. PLEASE, I really need your support. If you can not donate, PLEASE PRAY.

I have to have 24 hour care, and my 21 year old son has battled school, cooking, housework, and caring for me. Because I was in the hospital a lot, he did not get to graduate his senior year. He has been my support, and without him, I do not know where I would be. My son  is my caregiver. I have to have a full time caregiver. He has to assist me with everything, and trips to the doctor.

He has to push me in a wheel chair with one tank attatched, and he has to pull two extra tanks at the same time. We have no family to help. To get to my doctors, we have to user Medicaide transportation.
Transportation has left us stranded for hours, and I had to lower my oxygen liter flow just to make it last. To get food, he has to leave me alone to bike to the stores. I try not to get up because I have osteoporosis, and I have already had a fall.

My son has been such a great son. Not many would give up their life from age 11 to help. God blessed me with him.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you can not donate, please pray for us. Thank you  and God  bless.

My respiatory therapist at my Pulmonologist office e- mailed me this and asked me to add it to my fundraiser to describe my life as they know it.

Imagine a world where you cannot breathe. Where you are in end-stage COPD and on a non-invasive ventilator. Imagine having to use a nebulizer machine with medicines every three hours. Imagine being on oxygen 24 hours / seven days a week – – imagine needing a lung transplant.  Imagine not having access to a car.

Now imagine not having the money to pay for any of it.

In addition to her stage-4 COPD, Sharon Jowers faces multiple other challenges. From landlord issues associated with a busted water line to being wrongly evicted, to lacking appropriate cooking appliances that would help her live a healthier life, Sharon struggles just to make it through the day. She loves her children and wants to keep fighting to wait for a transplant.

Sharon is in urgent need of temporary housing  of which would help her become more productive, but also be a bridge to transplant.

Any gracious help, however small would be appreciated.
