My name is Sarah, I am 26 years old and live in Chicago. I currently reside with my mother and Father. The only sibling that I have was deported to Beirut, Lebanon as of September 2009 when he turned himself in, in hopes of becoming a citizen.
On October 10th 2015, my family and I received the most devastating news. My brother, million miles away from us was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer that only occurs in 1 in 10,000,000 people, Hepatosplemic Gamma-delta T-cell Lymphoma.
Unfortunately, in Lebanon, the medical system is different than in the US. In Lebanon, you can not receive any medical services without paying for it up front, which means that my brother can not receive any treatment. Him and his wife make just enough money to pay for their home and living essentials. My parents and I have always struggled financially and are sending whatever additional money we have to him. My family and I are crying out for help, because the reality is that if my brother does not receive the treatment that he needs, his short life of 29 years will end, much too soon.
