John Sklenar's Eagle Scout Project

Donation protected

My name is John Sklenar. I am a boy scout based out of Troop 52 in Marshallton, PA. My interest in history motivated me to design as my Eagle Scout project a collection of displays that outline the history of the National Guard Armory building in West Chester, PA. The building is currently being remodeled to become a performance space for the Borough of West Chester. The displays I am preparing will be mounted on the walls inside the theater for people to read during intermission and other visits.

I hope that creating and posting these displays will commemorate the history of the building. I am preparing the following three displays:

1. A timeline outlining ownership and use of the property from when it was a plantation in the 1600's to today.
2. A display describing the various activities that took place in the building over the years and the various skill sets that were taught to soldiers in the Armory's different rooms.
3. A description of the rich history of the battalion that was housed by the Armory. This history dates back to Benjamin Franklin, the founder of the National Guard.

The money raised by your kind donations will pay to have the displays professionally printed. My goal is to raise this money by the end of March.
