The Drum Corps Heritage Society is the most comprehensive thematic repository of materials related to the history of the North American drum and bugle corps.
The mission of the Drum Corps Heritage Society is to collect, preserve and provide access to these resources for scholars, educators, students, journalists, and the general public in an effort to broaden the awareness and understanding of the drum and bugle corps, its historical roots and evolution, and its impact in the larger history and cultural fabric of North American music.
The goal of the Drum Corps Heritage Society is to establish a facility for the permanent storage, archive and display of all historical records, physical artifacts and ephemera related to the history of the North American drum and bugle corps.
We envision an online repository to provide digital access to the rich history of the North American drum and bugle corps. This entails transferring all analoque audio-video recordings, photographs, and print resouces to a digital formats. After that, all individual items in the collection will be photographed and archived digitally.
This campaign will allow the DCHS staff to purchase the required technology and materials for the tasks of digitization, preservation, and long-term storage. In time we seek to contruct a multimedia studio for continuous management and curation of our collection.
