Jacob Wood's Fire Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Jacob Wood’s house recently suffered a major fire. Jacob has a young family, a busy self-made career with his wife AshleyRose in game development, freelance writing and layout, and is legally blind. Luckily nobody was hurt, but they’ve lost nearly everything.

Aside from the irreplaceable mementos and keepsakes of a family home, Jacob has lost the main tool of his trade; his computer.

We at the Indie Game Development Network think this sucks, and we want to help him get back to the things he loves, and the things that put food on the table. He’s been an active and supportive member of our network for many years and we want to return that support. His insurance covers a lot, but not everything, and not quickly.

If you’ve ever had something like this happen to you, or someone close to you, you’ll know how much a little outside help can mean. We’re not trying to rebuild his whole life, we’re just asking for people to give a little to help a lovely human being overcome a major life obstacle with dignity and with the ability to provide for his family again as soon as possible.

Aside from being a creative designer with a passion, Jacob works to increase awareness of the challenges facing gamers with disabilities and is an advocate for accessibility throughout the gaming industry. Right now, the basic access we all enjoy is his biggest limitation.

Jacob, AshleyRose, and their young son Gareth have a lot of work ahead of them, but they don’t have to do it alone. Help out with a few dollar and let Jacob get back to what he loves, and does best.

[The Indie Game Developer Network (IGDN) is an international volunteer trade organization that supports indie game developers making, publishing, and promoting fantastic games. The IGDN brings together a wide variety of developers–including pen and paper, card game, and board game designers–in a private environment where each and every member strives for excellence. We encourage and seek out new diverse voices to join us, particularly among traditionally underrepresented segments of the larger gaming community. http://igdnonline.com ]
