SWAN is a not for profit organization and has been providing various services since 1981. Our agency covers a variety of services to Edwards, White, Hamilton, Wabash, Wayne, Jefferson, Clay, Marion, Fayette, Effingham, Jasper, Crawford, Lawrence, and Richland counties in Illinois. Our services range from:
Adult Protective Services to provide assistance to anyone over 18 with a disability OR over 60 that are suffering from physical, emotional, sexual abuse, confinement, passive neglect, willful deprivation, or financial exploitation.
Legal Advocacy to assist victims with the process of obtaining orders of protection.
Ombudsman strives to protect and promote the rights and quality of life for those who reside in long term care facilities.
SIP (Swan Intervention Program) provides Partner Abuse Intervention counseling for batterers.
Domestic Violence Support Group provides group therapy for survivors of domestic violence.
INA (Information and Assistance) assistance with filing of circuit breakers, Medicare D and general information, referral to othe services for seniors.
Transitional and Permanent Housing provides supportive services to help achieve self sufficiency.
Domestic Violence Shelter provides safety , housing, and other supportive services for victims of domestic violence and their families.
Homeless Shelter provides assistance to individuals or families who are lacking economic self-sufficiency and are without a regular residence.
CURRENTLY BOTH OF OUR SHELTERS ARE CLOSED DUE TO THE STATE BUDGET IMPASSE. WE WERE FORCED TO REDUCE OUR STAFF FROM 30 EMPLOYEES TO 10. IF THE BUDGET IS NOT APPROVED BY JANUARY, SWAN WILL HAVE TO CLOSE COMPLETELY BECAUSE WE WILL NO LONGER HAVE RESOURCES TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE IN NEED.
