I've created this page to ask for help in us funding top surgery for Kaska Zielinski in (hopefully) January 2016. As most of you know, Kaska has been on HRT testosterone therapy since July 2015, for gender reassignment. Top surgery is an integral part of their transition, and vital to their well-being and identity on a daily basis.
We've now done our research and consultations and confirmed that the surgery will be performed by Andrew Ives in Melbourne, costing an estimated $7800 after medicare rebates. It is quite an intensive procedure, involving an overnight hospital stay and a 6 week recovery period.
This operation involves removing breast tissue from Kaska's chest and reshaping the contours. This will result in kaska no longer having to bind their chest every day, which causes back pain and heat retention (particularly in summer). This will give Kaska the opportunity to move about the world in a body aligning with an identity that is true to them, instead of living with constant discomfort and dysphoria.
