Shear Love

My name is Gin. I’m a licenses stylist starting a program in my community to offer free haircuts to low income, homeless men women and children, and people looking to rejoin the workforce to get interview ready. I came across a family who had 3 sons and they couldn’t afford haircuts more than twice a year and one of the boys wouldn’t even look up and when he spoke it was just a whisper. From that moment I knew I don’t have money but I do have time and the ability to help people like him feel better about themselves. I will be working out of the kitchen of our local community center and while I do have my own tools to use and have had donations of shampoo and conditioner from some wonderful people I am still in need of items to be able to better help. Towels, neck strips, capes, mirrors, combs, barbacide, clipper cleaner, and I hope one day to be able to afford an actual stylist chair for them to sit in. I’m on the short side so being able to cut hair for taller men or trying to get children up tall enough to do their hair will be difficult. This isn’t just a Christmas thing. We will be doing this program twice a month every month going forward so any help at all would be appreciated! Thank you!
