Whitnee's Kidney Transplant Fund

My name is Rick Estrada. My wife, Sherry and I live in Port Orange, Florida, where we have lived since childhood. Four years ago, Angie, Whit's Mom and I were devastated to learn that Whitnee, after delivering a beautiful baby girl, was diagnosed with a disease called FSGS, (focal segmental glomerulosclerosis). We were shocked to learn this tragic news, as Whit had always been very healthy & active. FSGS causes your kidneys to form scar tissue, and the scar tissue replaces healthy kidney tissue, which then causes your kidneys to stop filtering your blood. Eventually, the kidneys will stop working altogether, (kidney failure) and a kidney transplant becomes critical for survival.
Whitnee (the Mom in this photo) is now to the point where her kidneys are almost non-functioning, and we are in search of a donor for a kidney transplant. Whit has a very positive outlook about her struggle, and she still manages to work and take care of her family. But this is changing rapidly as her kidneys lose more and more of their function, so we are hopeful that we will find a match for a donor soon. This is a very expensive search, as none of the donor testing is covered by insurance, and the testing is extensive. We are raising money to help with this testing, so that donors will not have too much hardship just to be tested. The money raised will go directly to the potential donors and testing facilities, to cover costs of testing, time off from work for donors, and any hospitalization and medication needed that is not covered by insurance.
Angie and Bob, Beau and Shelby, (our son and his wife) Whitnee and her husband Josh, Grandma Joana Estrada, Sherry and I and all our family appreciate the money you have donated, your prayers and support and we will be forever grateful. We hope that we can help you, should you ever be in a situation like ours. They say that it takes a village to raise a child, and raising them never ends.
