Chelsea4Refugees- Help Set Up A Home

We are a group of volunteers in Chelsea Quebec that have been working with refugees settling in the area. We currently have a Syrian refugee family that is in need of some urgent help. The apartment they reside in now is infested with cockroaches. Initially we thought we could clean and fumigate the space, however we recently discovered the apartment is so infested it is unliveable and not safe. A new rental apartment is urgently needed for this family along with everything one needs to live. They are starting from scratch again just like they did when they left Syria, then the camp in Turkey. A little background on this beautiful family: The father is paralyzed on one side after being shot in the head by a sniper and the mother is dealing with a lot of pain after a recent surgery. Their two daughters ages 10 and 11 are doing their best to look after things. Through other donations, we already have some furniture lined up for this family. However, after discovering the cockroach issue, more help is needed to relocate this family and purchase additional items such as a kitchen table and chairs, small freezer, coffee side tables, lamps, bedding, clothes, moving costs and the list goes on. Please help us support this family to get back up on their feet again and lift their spirits!

I am someone who has helped over 70 Government-sponsored Syrian refugee families. Through donations (furniture, clothes etc) I have furnished their apartments, got the kids ready for school, found volunteer language tutors etc etc. I have never raised money before.

My community suggested that I set up a Go Fund Me page to raise funds for a Syrian refugee family in particular distress. When I visited them about a week ago, I saw that their entire apartment and all of their belongings were infected with cockroaches.

We moved them to a clean safe place while we find them a new home. They have had to leave everything behind, even their clothing.

The Go Fund Me fundraiser will be used to provide those things to the family that are otherwise not donated. For example, food, kitchen supplies, bedding, drapes (essential for a Muslim woman so that she can remove her hijab in the home), clothing, etc etc

I am in constant contact with the family, in person, by phone and by text.

I will be withdrawing the funds and not giving them directly to the family because I am the one who will be buying the things they need.
