Help Keep The Monroes In Their Home

Donation protected
I want to tell y’all about the Monroes. They’re a family from Pflugerville and are near and dear to my heart. Their story starts out a typical normal one. Husband, wife, two boys. Suburban home here in Pflugerville— Blackhawk to be exact and two cars. Typical job paying all the bills. Eagle Scout son. Kid in band with Amber at Hendrickson. Life is great, all except mom, Susie’s medical conditions. But that was before. You see, when I met them, I was reaching out to them with some meals after having seen their story mentioned on the Hendrickson band parent Facebook page. The band family is a tight one and everyone tries to help each other out. But not much information was given out in the plead for help post other than this family was in need and had fallen on hard times. What I didn’t know was how hard those times had been. Mark, the dad, had suffered a double stroke And was no longer the bread winner for his family. He had gone from providing for his family to basically having the comprehension of a 3-4 year old. Imagine all the difficulties that come with that. Locking cabinets so he doesn’t get into medication. Nights of wandering. Frustration because words just don’t come out like they should. Imagine being physically handicapped and also having to deal with your husbands stroke. It’s unimaginable. So the Monroes lost their home and both vehicles and moved into a rental while trying to make ends meet. But they were living on a very small amount of social security disability income a month. In addition to all of this, and before any of this ever happened, mom was diagnosed with a condition called spinal stenosis. It makes the use of a walker a necessity to travel from room to room and even lift ones self out of a chair. So not only was So as it became apparent the family could not only not make ends meet, but also not afford to live in a home, they moved. Here’s where mom got clever. They didn’t have money for much— Not even a deposit on rental. So a nice man a couple counties away from Pflugerville offered them the temporary use of a small piece of their land. Mom is now renting to own (because the price was right) a shell of a cabin. The two sons have worked at collecting odds and ends— any item they can repurpose to finish out the cabins— and they are all living inside a shell of a cabin. For the first 3 months they didn’t have plumbing, but now they do. They have collected a ceiling fan, some builder light fixtures, a bathtub and sink and are working to make it a liveable home within their small monthly budget. By living there, they have been able to tuck away $3,000 to purchase their own few acres in the country. But they need more funds to make this happen. About $5,000 to be exact. And time is running out. A lady down the street from the property they are on has offered to owner finance them a small piece of land. They have until the end of this month to move their cabins. If they move on and don’t find a piece of property, it’ll mean being right back at square one as they really don’t have the funds to rent an actual home each month. They are such a wonderful family. One son has been moved between three different high schools and the older son has a full time job and has forfeited college to help the family. Would you consider donating to this worthy cause? Any donation, no matter how small will be greatly appreciated by them!
