Sarah's Mitzvah Project 2016

My name is Sarah Hakakian and I will be having my Bat Mitzvah next year. 

As many of you know, my family has been very involved with an amazing charity called Larger Than Life . They help bring smiles to cancer children and their families during their most difficult times of their lives. 

I hope you can support me in whatever way you can to participate in my Mitzvah project, cause I can’t do it alone and I know it will be amazing if we all do it together.

My Mitzvah Project:
Building a children’s library at the Dana-Dwek children's hospital part of Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, Israel. With your support, we will be able to build a library with books and shelves in the day treatment room of the oncology department. There are 30-40 kids on average up to the age of 18 that visit there three times a week for treatment. While waiting, they are bored, and spending long hours at the hospital isn't fun. I want to create a quiet corner decorated for kids to read, learn, and pass time, while engaging in a story that doesn’t include doctors and hospitals. 
But the best part is, they open the book and see:
"this book was donated by (you)." 

I will be selling a label for each book that will have the donor’s name. You can choose to buy as many virtual books as you wish. I will place a label with your name that will be on each book. A donation of $26 per book will partly pay for the book itself as well as a portion of the shelving needed to be built. You can donate as many books as you wish. (UPDATE:  I am happy to announce that as of Dec. 15, 2015, we have enough funds for the books and will move to phase II of this project which is raising funds for creating the entertainment area--ie movie projector, DVDs, x boxes, electronic games , etc.)
My inspiration for this project:
I'm often told that I resemble my grandfather Dr. Albert Khabbaza who is no longer with us. We lost him to cancer too. But he was passionate about books and learning. Even till his last days, he never stopped learning. I often remember him always reading. In his memory, I chose books and education as it was always a high priority for him. He too published a book a year before he passed away. So I'm doing this in his memory, for children with cancer fighting their battles everyday and hope they win.
So I hope you can share my excitement too and join me in this journey. I would love to have you included in my project. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I hope you will always be blessed to be on the giving side.
