501(c)(3) setup for Living Kidney donor advocacy

Hi, my name is Biji Thomas. I am the recent recipient of a living donor kidney transplant from my sister to address my ESRD which was diagnosed 3 years back. When I was told that a living kidney transplant was the only final solution, and wanted to identify potential donors to connect with, I realized that there were very little resources available to facilitate such connections between recipients and donors. Currently there are over 400,000 potential recipients awaiting kidney transplant in the US. My sister and I would like to establish a Not-For-Profit (501c3 organization) to help connect waiting recipients with potential donors and to substantially increase the number of donors through advocacy efforts.

The mission of our Not-For-Profit will be (a) Advocacy on living kidney donation (b) Facilitate matches between potential donors and recipients and (c) Assist recipients with financial help to procure expensive medicines required to prevent rejections of transplanted kidneys. I intend to invest $10,000 towards the initial legal set up costs.
This campaign is to enlist support from generous individuals to help us launch this Not-For-Profit in the next 3 months. The funds raised through this campaign will be used towards establishing the basic infrastructure such as the website, create program materials, launch initial advocacy campaigns.

We would like to use our experience and personal story to help other recipients who have been waiting long for a living donor kidney. Your support will tremendously help give new life to these waiting recipients. We sincerely appreciate the help.
