Defend 501FIT Owner in Dispute

$7,280 of $15,000 goal

Raised by 39 people in 6 months
Created July 1, 2018
I'm raising money to fight a legal dispute regarding a previous lease at 501 S. Washington Ave. 3rd Floor

Background:

1. Diana Broschka  and her partner of 501FIT are being sued by LS Capital.
2.  LS Capital (California Company) buys properties in MN including previous 501FIT location .
3.  LS Capital is suing 1.5 years after 501FIT closed, vacated space.

Why Give?

This lawsuit has the potential to harm 501FIT owners even though 501FIT was closed we're fighting back.  We need to fight, fend off crisis to preserve our ability to continue to operate training studios to help more people through fitness.

Who Will Benefit?

1.  Diana!   All contributions will go directly to Diana's portion of legal fees.

2.  You!  Your contributions will be used to protect/defend your neighborhood  businesses, services .

3.  Others!  We'll have a clear path into the future to continue fitness services for you and others.

Thank you!

Happy 2019 Everyone!

I stayed in the fight!

In my last update, I was ready to give up and retreat from the dog fight but that is just not in my nature.

What's been happening...
1. Mediation was a waste of time and money.
2. Opposing counsel doesn't fight fair.
3. Opposing counsel got extensions to drag this out.
4. Our costs are mounting so we need to win!
5. Reached out to reporters - no response.
6. Reached out to council members - no response.

Bottom line, LS Capital is not relenting.

Costs to Date
$11,175 (my 50% share through November 2018)

I thought this would be winding down in January with depositions but opposing counsel won an extension so the fight is extended by 60 days, possibly more.

Send good vibes! Thanks for all the support.

I wish I had better news to report.
Plan A is costing too much money and not working!

Cost to Date = $6675 (my 50%)
Generous donations = 48% of my share.

Plan A -
1. Convince LS Capital to drop the lawsuit
2. Appeal to Landlord 2 to defend our agreement
3. Get press support, put PR pressure on LS Capital

I am out of money so time for Plan B!

Plan B -
1. Suspend interim legal work - wait for court date
2. Continue to pitch our story to news outlets
3. Reach out to and meet with City officials
4. Share our story with all other LS capital tenants
5. Stand tall, trust and pray this will end well

I would like introductions to reporters, city officials and anyone else that we can share our story with so:

A) we put pressure on LS Capital through bad PR
B) start petitioning for fairer tenant laws in Mpls.

Thanks everyone!

"Trust but verify" - NOT with commercial landlords.

This week has proven that commercial landlords have one mission - to enrich themselves at tenant expense.

Would 1 of the 3 landlords we dealt with over 9+ years for the same space - 501 S. Washington Avenue - do the right thing? No such luck.

The battle continues! Legal bills to date $10,500+
My share = $5250

Considering donating the equivalent of ...
1. A cup of coffee - $5
2. A lunch - $10
3. A dinner - $25

Even the smallest of donations will help!
