Spare Change 4 Real Change

Hey lovely people,

So I’m packing it in! leaving the little outback town of Katherine and the good life, quitting my cushy job, getting rid of all my possessions, saying good bye to my comfortable king size bed and all those every day luxuries that we taken for granted so easily like running water, electricity at the flick of a switch, cold beer, flushing toilets etc.....

I’m giving it all up to go on a Worldwide Volunteer Mission to bring real change into the lives of those less fortunate then us, those effected by natural disaster, poverty, war, climate change & environmental destruction!
The type of work I will be putting my hand up for on my Worldwide Volunteer Mission will include but not limited to are, natural disaster clean up & recovery projects, rebuilds, English teaching, conservation and rehabilitation projects, not only do I want to help but I want to learn.

I have selected Volunteer Initiative Nepal who are a NGO, Non-For-Profit organization in Nepal for my work there....

Great news! VIN has accepted my application to join their Agro Forestry project for 3 months starting in mid July 2017. The project will take place in the Okhaldunga district 250km from Kathmandu which is a full days travel by bus due to poor road conditions.

Agroforestry, a sustainable farming alternative.  Agroforestry adopts an integrated approach to farming, using the interactive benefits of combining trees and shrubs with crops and/or livestock, the result being a more productive, profitable and healthy use of the land.
For more information on the program please visit the following link:

I will be funding my own accommodation, food, travel & visa costs.

Some volunteer projects require extra support as they are NGO & NFP organizations this is why I have set up a fundraising campaign!

Funds raised will be to put towards building & farming equipment/materials, medical supplies, school materials, food, clothing & training sessions etc.....

Below gives you and idea of how contributions can be used on the Agroforestry project...

- $50 can buy 5 kg seeds for 5 farmers and can improve their livelihood

- $50 USD can pay a professional trainer for a day.

- $50 buy lunch for 50 farmers for the training day

- $100 can develop one nursery

- $100 can train 10 farmers a day on agroforestry

- $200 can buy plastic for plastic pond (there is scarcity of water and we are helping farmers to harvest rain water)

- $250 can install drop irrigation system for a farmer

Examples for other projects with VIN

-$100 contribution will fund a 1 month of activities in a Children's
Club / Women's Group / train 15 teachers for a week / make one toilet for a poor family / buy food for 9 orphan kids for a week /

All Hands is another NGO, NFP organization that have just gained some more funding enabling them to extend their Nepal Earthquake Relief & Rebuild project. They have invited me on board to rebuild a new school! The project will start after the monsoon and I will join mid October after I finish up with VIN and continue to mid Nov. Then I will have to move on over the boarder to India as my visa will have run out bringing an end to the first chapter....

I’m hopping chapter 2 takes me to work with the Street Kids of Delhi to shine a light on them, giving them a glimpse of hope though the thick city smog. Then head for the mountains to help the Tibetan refugees seeking exile in my birth town of Dharamsala, India the gateway to the amazing Himalayas. I will be teaching English classes and helping out in the daycare center which is set up for the refugees to provide them with the opportunity to take part in study, training or work to better their future.

Chapter 3 Is unconfirmed options being as follows: Flood recovery in Peru, South America, Animal & conservation in Madagascar Or Turtle Marine Conservation in the Galapagos...............

Chapter 4 You Chose! This section I give to the supporter for suggestions.

In this busy, technology filled life of consumerist wants we can forget about the simple things in life that so many people are left without. With your help we can put smiles on beautiful faces and bring lasting change to the lives of people in the developing world or those who have been affected by war or natural disaster.

I will have a blog set up so you can follow project progress, see real change happen and most of all see the smiles of gratitude that speak more than words...

Thank you for your time!

love and respect....

Nathalie......
