Melanie's Leg Surgeries

Donation protected
For over a year and a half I have been suffering from foot pain. I have gone to 2 physicians, 2 podiatrists, 1 neurologist, 1 chiropractor and a nutritionist. My 1st doctor told me to more water. Actually told me that I should drink from a straw because I would absorb more. That I was wasting my time taking off and putting on the lid on my water bottle. All the while my foot continued to swell and pulse in pain. My 1st podiatrist said that it was 2 stress fractures and put me in a boot. After 4 weeks it still wasn't healing and my heel was hurting worse everyday. She put me on crutches. One week later I ended up in the hospital with a 10 inch blood clot in my leg. Then 6 more weeks in the boot. We did an MRI and she said there was no stress fracture. She put her hands in the air and said she didn't know anything else to do. My next doctor told me to lose 40 pounds (which I gained after the pain started) and exercise. "How can I do that if I can't stand and walk?" "Push through it. It can't hurt that bad." So I went to a neurologist who told me it was neuropathy and that nothing could be done. That I would just have to learn to live with the pain. All this while the pain was increasing to the point that any pressure on my heels at all causes excruciating pain. To sleep at night I have to put a pillow just above my ankles so that my feet don't touch my bed causing more pain. So now I'm on blood thinners, 2 different pain medications and drinking 5 liters of water a day and sill in pain. At a total loss. But my friend told me "Don't give up. Don't accept that you will be in pain forever." So I go to the next podiatrist that says it's nerve pain for sure but he can do something about it! That I shouldn't have to live in this pain. That brings us to now. On Monday Nov 9th I will be going into surgery. We will be starting on my right leg. He will be doing 3 procedures. 1-Tarsal Tunnel Nerve Release procedure, 2- Soleal Sling surgery (this is a nerve decompression) and 3- Gastrocnemius recession (lengthing my calf muscle). I will be out of work for 7-10 days. And the recovery should take 4-6 weeks. After which we will make sure that I am all healed and that the surgery worked then we will do it all over on my left leg. I will then again be out of work for 7-10 days with 4-6 week recovery. We are trying to get both surgeries in before the end of the year because I have reached my deductible. However John will be taking the time off work to take care of me. And since we have used all of our sick days and vacation time we will both have to take this time unpaid. We need everybodys help. Please help us raise this money. Every little bit helps! And please pray that this surgery will stop the constant pain! Thank you in advance to everyone that is helping me with this difficult time. God bless!
