Teghan's Scoliosis Surgery Fund
Teghan was first diagnosed June 2015 with the medical condition, Scoliosis. Teghan had many xrays and MRI's to determine the seriousness of her Scoliosis. The results came back that there was a blockage in the ceribelium (brain) which didn't allow for the spinal fluid to flow. In this case causing her spine to have a curviture of 50+ degress.
In order to correct Teghans spine, she first had to undergo a Hydromelia plugging of the obex and decompression (neurosurgery) surgery. This surgery took place in late October 2015. The surgery was successful and Teghan's spinal fluid is now flowing as normal.
Now Teghan's next hurdle is the Scoliosis Segmental Instrumentation Infusion of the Spine. This surgery is scheduled to take place in late March 2016. The surgery will hopefully correct the curvature. The surgery is taking place in a private hospital as there is a very long waiting list for public hospitals. If is left untreated there is a chance the curvature will worsen in which could affect her heart, lungs and kidneys.
Her parents Tracey and Peter are trying to come up with the money. Their health fund covers the hospital stay but not the surgeons costs. With peoples donations it will lessen some of the strain and stress this has put on Teghans family and will allow her parents to spend some much needed time with her in her 6 week
You can see by the photo just how badly the curve was prior the surgery and not how straight itis.
Would really like to thank everyone who has contributed to help by for the surgery.
