From Feb. 27 to March 2, members of the Muleskinner
staff will be heading to San Diego for the Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) conference. This twice-yearly conference allows our editors, reporters, photographers and advertising representatives the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the journalism industry, and it gives us the chance to learn new skills and trends to improve our publications at the University of Central Missouri.
To attend this conference, we will need to pay for hotel rooms, airline tickets and conference registration. Because of the limited budget the Muleskinner has, and the financial need of college students with limited income, we are working to fundraise for the spring 2014 ACP conference.
Among many fundraising efforts we will be conducting this semester, we are asking for donations through this GoFundMe.com campaign to help cover our expenses. Our budget doesn't allow for professional development such as ACP, and your donation will help us to do that, which in turn will improve our publications.
This money will be used primarily for our trip to ACP, but it will also be used to supplement our current budget. As a small college paper, our budget is quite small, and limits what we are able to do. Funding from the university and advertising revenue only does so much, so we are working to increase our budget, which will in turn improve your school's paper.
