1-month update: Thank you to all the wonderful people who have contributed to the fundraiser for this MV family. So far we have raised $3,195, which is so amazing! We're at 1/3 of our goal, so we'd appreciate if you would continue to share the link for this fundraiser. Your generosity will go a long way to help them to pay for legal fees and daily costs. The family has gone through so much emotional and financial strain, including so much sleep that has been lost. But it's such a relief to know that we live in an amazing and supportive community, and we would like to send you all our kindest and grateful sentiments to you all.
In less than a month, a family that belongs to the Graham Middle School community had two members of their family detained by ICE. The only reason for the two family members’ arrest was that they crossed the border without documentation. This is a very humble, modest and hard-working family. They only seek to offer a better future for their family and children. As a consequence of these detentions, the members of the family left behind have been trying to pay for legal representation for the two members of the family. There are two working parents in this family, two family members detained by ICE and three children. The children are ages 12, 5 and an 11-month baby. Aside from the legal dues, this family has to pay for their monthly rent and the livelihood of the family. We ask you, the members of the community, to help in any way you can. They would like to continue to provide for their family as well as help their two family members return safely home, but they are undergoing a difficult and frightful experience with economic and emotional stress. We thank you for your generosity.
En menos de un mes una familia que asiste a la escuela Graham tuvo dos de sus miembros detenidos por ICE. La razón de detención ha sido en los dos casos por haber cruzado la frontera sin documentos. Ésta es una familia de gente muy humilde y muy trabajadora. Lo único que ellos han buscado es que puedan tener un futuro mejor para sus hijos. A consecuencia de estas dos detenciones, los miembros de la familia que quedaron han estado pagando las cuentas que los abogados han pedido para poder ayudar a los familiares detenidos.
En esta familia hay dos padres trabajadores proveedores, dos tíos (detenidos) y tres niños, uno de 12 años, uno de 5 años y un bebé de once meses. La familia además de pagar las cuotas de los abogados necesita pagar la renta de su casa, la comida y el sustento de todos los niños. Ellos están pidiendo apoyo de la comunidad para poder salir de este bache en el que están y poder seguir proveyendo a sus hijos al mismo tiempo de tratar de liberar a los dos miembros de la familia que están detenidos por ICE.
