Please help me to make a difference!

Hey everyone, so as most of you know, I spent a month over in Ghana volunteering in Kumasi Children's Home and also in Divine International School. I fell in love with Ghana and with all of the children and people that I met along the way. It was such an amazing and life changing experience, that I have decided to go back for 3 months, leaving at the end of September. I am constantly in contact with the staff in Ghana and having been over there and seeing what needs to be done, there are 3 very important things I am hoping to raise some money for.

While I was in Ghana, I came in contact with a family who's story really touched me. The mother of the family, has 5 of her biological children living with her and the rest of the children in the house are other people's children who she has taken in for many different reasons. Despite the fact that she is really struggling herself, she is putting others first. She sells sweets and hard boiled eggs daily to try and afford to feed her family who often struggle to afford 3 meals a day. As you can imagine, her profit for each day is very little. Her husband also sells second hand clothing. The mother is trying to set up a business to have a steady income for her family but this has been a real struggle. Before I left, I helped her to get started with her business with my own money. Since being back in Ireland, I have kept in touch with her son who regularly updates me on how things are. He has sent me pictures of the things they've been able to do with the money I left and it really has progressed greatly as they have been able to stock the shelves and start to tile the roof but there's still a long way to go. With the money I raise, I will continue to help this family when I go back to Ghana and I will also update you all on the progress. I will post some pictures of where they live, the business and the family themselves.

The second thing I want to raise money for is to help some of the children in Divine International School to pay their school fees. Over 400 children are able to attend this school and each child pays 1 Ghanaian cedi a day to attend school which is equivalent to €0.19. Some of the children in the school really struggle to afford this and end up not being able to further their education which unfortunately may lead to them ending up on the streets etc. By paying for a child's school fees, you are setting them up for a bright future.

The third thing I would like to raise money for is a new fridge/freezer for Kumasi children's home. This will be used to store the food for the children. Their current freezer is very old and is constantly breaking so the children's food is not being stored properly. This would be a great benefit to the children. Unfortunately, I don't have many pictures of the inside of the children's
home as the privacy of the children is very important and taking pictures isn't encouraged.

I will of course keep everyone updated on the various projects and progress when I get over to Ghana. Anything at all that you can donate, will go towards making a huge difference in all of these lives. I will be forever grateful.  Thank you❤️
