Hello everyone.
My name is Matthew Calhoun, and at the moment my family and I are in a bit of a pickle...
Over the past few years, my family and I have been dealing with our fair share of financial troubles, just like most of you out there. But do to special circumstances, those troubles are coming to a head. As of me writing this, we have not one, but TWO houses we're on the brink of losing...
The first is my grandmother's old house. She added mine and my mother's names to the deed before she passed away in 2013, but unfortunately we haven't been able to keep up with the property taxes. It will take almost $5000 dollars to hold onto it with what we owe, and we'll need it before January 18th to keep it from going to auction. And we will need it, just in case we can't save our current home...
It's the one you see above, covered in snow from the extremely rare snowfall at the beginning of the month. My family and I have lived here for almost 13 years now. And while it certainly hasn't always been sunshine and rainbows, for better or worse it's been the place we call home since the the summer of '05. But because of our money troubles over the past few years, our mortgage is currenly in default. And if we can't come up with what we owe on it (about $65,000 as of writing this) then it too will go to auction on February 23rd.
I'm sure I don't have to explain to any of you what it would mean to have this money. The stress of trying to handle both of these homes while trying to keep our heads above water has been overwhelming. Not only has it taken it's toll on all of us mentally and emotionally, but for my mother, the stress has taken a toll on her health. She's been dealing with stress-related ailments for the past two years now, and while she's been recieving treatments for the physical symptoms, the underlying cause is all too obvious... Having this burden lifted from her shoulders would mean the world to her, and to the rest of us.
While I don't expect the whole amount right away, anything you can give will be greatly appreciated. Even if we can ultimately only save one of our homes, it would still go a long way to easing our burdens, and our stress. And while I can't offer any rewards for helping us, know that we will be eternally grateful for anything you're willing to contribute.
