The Christmas Project
Donation protected
Shoals Area Families' Christmas Project is in full swing. I want to provide Christmas for 50 children and 20 families this year. My goal is to raise $6,250 in the next 2 weeks. I am asking for donations of $25- $100 so I can take care of all the families that need help this holiday season. Every day my list of names of children grow bigger.
In Christmas's past, I have provided Christmas for over 100 children, many Christmas dinners, (hams, veggies, etc), paid numerous power bills, put homeless families into homes and then furnished their homes. My favorite is playing Secret Santa and paying people's power bills without them knowing.
Each child gets a new pair of shoes, jeans, sweater, shirt, underwear and socks, a toy of their choice and dinner for their family. The children I provide for are ones that didn't get registered for Toys for Tots or Angel Tree. They are referred by area schools and sometimes by you. Without SAF, these children would not receive anything.
Most people do not realize that you have to register in October for the major toy programs. But what if you didn't know you were going to lose your job then? What if you were fired in November? If you are living pay check to pay check, how are you going to be able to provide Christmas? SAF is here to take the stress off of the parent and keep a smile on children. SAF spends an average of $125 per child. Currently, we are receiving about 6 names a day that need Christmas assistance. Donations can be dropped off at Ups & Downs Thrift Store located at 602 Veterans Drive Florence, at the corner of Cherry Street near the Coliseum. 10-5pm [phone redacted].
