Speedo Man's Medical Fund

Ray and I adopted a kitten from a shelter that was going to be put to sleep. His name is Speedo and he is a 1 year and 6 months old now. Speedo was born with what was thought was Swimmers Syndrome- a condition where the animal's legs are splayed. But after much therapy and no improvement, the doctors thought he had a breached birth and that maybe, soon after being born someone stepped on him and damaging his legs and spine. Despite all this Speedo is in no pain at all and gets around fine and is even able to run. The decision to euthanize him was made due to a potenially small pool of people interested in adopting a special needs kitten. We could not let this happen and took him in. Since day 1 he has been a joy!

Sadly, Speedo is now experiencing recurring bowel and unrinary problems. He is a unique case for the veterinarians due to his condition and every case sets a new presedent for his doctors. Since late October, Speedo has suffered through 2 bad cases of constipation and is on a life long treatment of Lactulose. Speedo now is battling what we think is a urinary infection.  All his tests came back negative for bacteria but he is on antibiotics and we are observing him closely.

We are at a point that we have depleted our savings since Speedo has no pet insurance due to his pre-existing condition. We would be very grateful for any help you can provide to help him. Speedo has another follow up visit to the vet on 12/31/15 since he has not improved much and this will cost at least $450.00. We are trying to raise $2700.00 to help cover his trips to the ER, test and medications. Speedo is also facing surgery on January 14 since a mass was foun in his abdomen. The veterinarian does not know what the mass is but suspects a granuloma. The vet estimates the surgery will cost $1,500 in addition to the $1,200 we already spent on the Emergency Room visits.

Your help will mean so much to us as Speedo means the world to us. If you ever had an animal that your rescued and gave him the care and love despite his special needs you know what we mean. He is a joy to have around, is very spunky and willful yet very affectionate. He deserves a chance at a healthy life!
We thank you in advance, Ana and Ray.
