Down But Not Out

I’d never start a GoFund me unless it was a last resort. And In this case, it is. Below is a pic of one of my best friends, Mark, and his fiancé, Jenn. They are an amazing couple who have been to hell and back. After battling addiction for over a decade,  three years ago they got clean and never looked back. Since then, they’ve done the impossible—remained clean and sober while slowly rebuilding their concrete and tile business UNIQUE TILE AND CONCRETE.

I’ve known Mark since 8th grade. He’s never changed. Always there for me. Incredibly hard working and with a heart of gold. I’m fact, his good heart is what got into this predicament. Being that he has had a second chance at life, he decided to play it forward and give someone else a second chance, a guy who was fresh out of rehab. Mark figured he could put the guy to work while mentoring him on his sobriety. It was a win win.

Well, it backfired. The guy ended up breaking into Mark’s trailer and stole $30,000 worth of Mark’s tools and equipment. Mark is devastated. This is his busy season, when he makes the bulk of his income. He needs tools to make money. No tools, no money. The worst part, his insurance is not accepting his claim, saying that he didn’t have the right coverage. Total BS. Worst still, the guy who did it is out walking the street on a zero dollar PR bond. Probably get probation. Meanwhile, Mark’s life is in ruins. His wedding now has to be out on hold. What a FUBAR!

So, my request is this: If you’ve ever been knocked down and needed a hand to get back up, think back to that time, how much it would have helped if just a few people reached in their pockets and tossed you a few bucks to give you that little push needed to get you over the hump. That’s what Mark and Jenn need right now. I feel horrible. These are two of the sweetest, nicest people I know. Period. They are literally like family to me. And my heart breaks for them.

So, if it’s within your means, anything will help. I don’t care if it’s $5 or $10 bucks. It all adds up. They didn’t deserve to have some crackhead come in and destroy the life they’ve worked so hard to build over the last few years. I’m determined to help them put the pieces back together. And you can help them too. Believe me, this is one of those times where it will TRULY make a difference. And be appreciated!!
