This Sunday is Orphan Sunday, November is National Adoption Month, and this past week I started the official process to open my home to children in state custody who are in need of a safe place and a family!

Family for a day, a month, two years, or forever... with the varying situations and events that have shaped these childrens lives, you never know what to expect.

So this is me, continuing and being obedient in acting on a passion that began in me many years ago. I'm turning a room in my house into a foster/emergency care room for children in need of a safe place to stay. To provide the care that I need and want to give these children, I will only be able to work part time. Many people have already asked how they can help, so I figured I could launch this site as an easy way for people who feel led to be a part of these sweet lives to get involved. I do not have any set financial goal, the site just made me choose a number. To start, I will need to purchase the basic items such as beds, dresser, car seats, food, various sizes/gender clothing, diapers, and shoes. I begin the home study process in two weeks and must show proof that I have these items and resources needed to bring children home as soon as I am approved.

My involvement with children's homes, foster care, adoption, and many other areas of orphan and family care have shaped who I am and what drives me today. For as long as I can remember I have wanted a 'rainbow family', a life filled with people of every race or background. I never knew that that family would be located in 19 different countries around the world. In the past few years that is how many countries I have lived in. I have worked in orphanages, schools, churches, prisons, and homes of families and children in many broken situations. There are pieces of my heart still with every single one of them, and pieces of my soul that I gained and will keep with me forever.

Living and working now in my hometown, I see all of the same pains and desires around me every day. I work closely and live life daily with single mothers, hungry children, and hurting individuals. I have had many opportunities to move overseas to care for children in these situations, but I feel the need is just as big here in Memphis and want to invest my experiences here for now. As I have gained perspective on the broken world that we live in, I have more and more hope in what we are all created for. Every person, no matter what their situation, has the deep desire to be fully known and fully loved. That is my passion. I want to ensure that every child and parent who I come in contact feels that they are valued and were created with gifts and purpose in this world.

If you believe in what I am doing and feel led to supply these childrens basic needs, please donate here or contact me personally if you prefer another method of payment or wish to donate items or clothing.

The only thing I ask for myself are prayers, as this journey is not always easy and I want to do it not on my own strength but on Christ's and handle every situation how He would have me to do.

'Let the favor of the Lord be upon us, and establish the work of our hands, yes, establish the work of our hands.' -Psalm 90:17

'He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.' -Deuteronomy 10:18

'We love because He first loved us.' -1 John 4:19

The numbers and statistics can be overwhelming, but we can all play our role in fighting for the defenseless, speaking for the voiceless, and caring for these children as we would care for our own.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please do not hesitate. This is my favorite thing to talk about! :)
-Thanks!
