Andrews fight against Wegener's
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Andrew. I am trying to raise money to cover expenses brought on by an autoimmune disease that I have, which is called Wegners Granulomatosis. Wegners is an autoimmune disease that affects my lungs, kidneys, joints, sinuses, energy level, and medium blood vessels.
I was first aware I had this ailment back in 2008 when I was still in high school. I have been in remission up until February of 2015 when a sinus infection and pancreatitis caused a flare up. I spent a week in the hospital. I was hopeful that I could return to work quickly by receiving a new treatment called Rituxin. Rituxin is a fusion treatment which I would go through once a week for four weeks. The hospital charges from 10-20 thousand dollars per treatment. The treatments seemed to help a little, but didn't fix my facial pain or my fatigue.
A few weeks later, I noticed pimples on my lip and nostril that were growing. It turned out to be a staph infection and I had to be hospitalized for almost another whole week.
The face pain continued, so my doctor preformed an operation on me called a Balloon Sinuplasty. It was supposed to drain my sinuses and relieve the pain I was experiencing. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. The doctor said the bones in my face are too thick, which was probably caused by all the inflammation.
Right after this surgery, I contracted MRSA on my elbow. This too has caused me a great deal of pain and has stopped me from working the little that I was.
As weeks turned into months and my inability to consistently work through the joint and sinus pain, my medical bills and personal costs of living have been piling up. I applied for disability back in early July 2015, but I received news almost a full 3 months later that the proper paperwork was not filled out. I am now running out of options financially. I'm currently on a trip to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN to hopefully find some answers. I ask for the generosity of friends, family, and strangers to help me with this difficult time.
