Amputation Donation

Hey everybody. As most of you know I had my leg amputated in 2006. At that time the orthopedic surgeon told me I had about 10 years left before I would have to amputate above the knee. At that time there was no cartilage in the knee. About a month ago I had an x-ray done due to an infection and the x-ray showed spider cracks going up my femur and down my tibia due to not having cartilage in the knee. After months of seeing specialists and prayer I worked up the courage to amputate again. Even though I've done this before, it's still a tough call to make. This will be my 13th surgery and hopefully my last. I came to a conclusion. This is bigger than me though. Having this surgery and persevering through what lies ahead gives me a story to tell. I have already spoken to Shriners Children's Hospital and Hanger Prosthetics. They would like for me to come talk to new amputees and kids who are going through what I did and much worse. Having this final surgery ends a chapter in my life but also opens up possibilities that are endless. I'll be able to run again, to show kids that however dark it may seem now, it will get better.
