Protesting The Coronation Of Trump

Donation protected
Hi there, I am a biology student at EMU, Vice President of the progressives at EMU, precinct delegate of Ypsilanti city, executive committee member of the Washtenaw county Democratic Party, vice co-chair of the visibility committee for the WCDP, an activist, and generally a concerned and woke citizen. I have previously gone to protest the Iraq war, the convention in philly, and for environmental causes. I love the advances I've seen throughout our society under obamas term and I can also see some areas that need help still. The biggest concern I have going forward in this nation is the bigotry that has been spread by Trumps upcoming presidency. I am also a mixed woman of Mexican and Western European decent. Being mixed, I have never felt fully accepted by any culture or people and it has taken a lot of outreach and community to make me feel at home here in ypsilanti, MI (and Washtenaw county), but I do, because of the great amounts of diversity and kindness I see here every day. I don't want to see children growing up scared of their own diversity as I was, simply for being different. I don't want people to think this is normal to see people being belligerently bigoted. I have taken up an elected position in this government of ours to make sure that the face and tone of America changes toward acceptance of minorities such as myself and many of my friends. I want to stand up to these establishment figureheads and tell them we matter, black lives matter, women's lives matter, Muslim lives matter, disabled lives matter, veteran lives matter, and elderly lives matter. All the lives that are being threatened by his presidency matter and I am planning on going to D.C. and protesting his inauguration and joining the million women's march to make sure they know these things matter to me and millions of others. I have gathered a group of roughly 8-10 (depending on work schedules) local progressives that are looking to go to D.C. with me. There are many expenses but the transportation will be the most difficult. We have estimated roughly $800-1000 needed between us solely for transportation with a van rental, gas, and tolls. That is not including the necessities of food and other assorted things we will need. We have talked extensively about our goals and plans for this (5 prior meetings) and we see that covering these expenses will be difficult. Please help out any way you can, and if you were a Bernie supporter, maybe give $27 for old times sake!
