Help For Alyssa

Alyssa-Mae was born in May 2008 in Portsmouth. She still lives in Fratton, along with her Mum, Dad and 2 sisters. She has an extremely rare chromosome disorder, only 2 other people worldwide are known to have the same condition, so there is no knowing what the future holds for her. She has congenital heart disease and epilepsy. Alyssa is non-verbal and has global development delay. Her needs are very complex, yet despite this her family coped with the rollercoaster that day to day living with Alyssa brings. Recently, however, Alyssa became ill and worsened rapidly. She was transferred to intensive care and spent a week in an induced coma and had severe sepsis. Her organs had begun to shut down. Alyssa is a fighter though, and battled back from this - 60% of children that become this ill sadly don't make it. She is getting better slowly but is still waiting for an urgent MRI scan to see if any further brain damage has occurred because of this.We are trying to raise funds for Alyssa to be able to experience something that most children take for granted - being able to ride a bike. Her family involve Alyssa in everything that they and her 2 sisters do wherever possible. She has been through so much and the chance to have the opportunity to do this would be life changing. It's not an easy task, as she will need a custom made and adapted tricycle like the one pictured. They cost in the region of £2000. To date through pages such as this, many raffles, cake sales and hard work by her Mum £800 has been raised. It would be amazing if the target could be reached by the summer so that Alyssa can use this in the holidays. Anything you can spare to help this amazing cause will be amazing - help a little girl have a special childhood. Please give what you can.You can follow Alyssa on Facebook - Help for Alyssa. The page has regular updates and say as what's going on in this special little girls life.
I've increased the goal to £2500, the family is unaware, but I know that Alyssa desperately needs a new specially adapted car seat and also a sensory room in her bedroom. She also loves technology and can swipe and press buttons on an iPad and iPhone. My dream would be to provide her with specialised programming and technology so that she may one day be able to communicate with us in some way. I couldn't imagine being unable to tell someone if I was sad, needed a drink or wanted a hug. For her to do the same would be life changing. Please keep supporting Alyssa, let make this families dreams come true xxx
